Alien Keyboard is a translating keyboard published by AlienWave Tech Solutions. Because a keyboard can see everything you type, this policy sets out exactly what the app does with your text, what leaves your phone, and what does not.
The two versions work differently, so this policy is in two parts. The iPhone and iPad version translates entirely on your device and sends nothing anywhere. The Android version sends the sentence you dictate to Google's translation service. Read the part that matches the phone you are using.
Translation. When you press Translate, the text you typed is translated by iOS on the device. Each language pair is downloaded once from Apple and then works with no internet connection at all. The text is never transmitted.
Speaking. The keyboard itself has no microphone access — iOS does not permit custom keyboards to record audio. If you use the microphone inside the Alien Keyboard app to speak instead of typing, what you say is turned into text by Apple's own speech recognition, which may process it on Apple's servers, exactly as dictation on the system keyboard does. That is between you and Apple, under Apple's privacy policy. We never see it, and no audio is captured, stored or transmitted by us.
Clipboard history. Up to ten recent copies are kept so the clipboard panel can offer them for pasting. They are encrypted on your device with a key held in the iPhone's keychain, they are never transmitted, and they are not included in backups. You can clear them at any time in the app, under Keyboard settings.
Learned words. Words you type that are not in the built-in dictionary are remembered on your device so suggestions improve. They never leave it.
Your settings. Chosen languages, theme, key size, sound and vibration preferences are stored on your device only.
Deleting the app removes all of it.
Everything below applies to the Android version only.
Text you dictate. When you press the microphone button and speak, the resulting text is sent to Google's translation service to be translated into your chosen language. The translated text is then typed into whatever app you are using.
A clipboard entry you choose to translate. The clipboard panel lets you press and hold a saved entry to translate it. Only entries you press and hold are sent. Simply opening the panel, or tapping an entry to paste it, sends nothing.
Both are sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Nothing else you type is ever transmitted. We do not receive a copy — the text goes from your phone to the translation service directly, and AlienWave has no server in the path and keeps no record of it. Once translated text reaches Google, Google's own privacy policy governs what happens to it.
The app requests microphone permission, but the app itself never records or receives audio. Pressing the microphone hands the request to your phone's own speech recognition service — on most phones, the Google app — which listens and returns text. Your voice goes to that service under its own privacy policy, not to us. No audio is captured, stored or transmitted by Alien Keyboard.
Some things are stored on your device so the keyboard can work. None of it is ever sent to us or to anyone else:

on the app's behalf. The app does not read the microphone itself.INTERNET — to send text for translation.VIBRATE — for the key-press tick, if you enable it.The app also asks Android which speech services are installed, so it can pick one that supports your language. That list never leaves your phone.
The settings screen has a Send feedback button. It opens your own email app with your phone model, Android version and current language settings already filled in, so a bug report has the details we need. Nothing is sent unless you press send yourself, and you can edit or delete any of it first.
Alien Keyboard is a general-purpose utility. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone.
If the app's behaviour changes in a way that affects your data, this page will be updated and the date at the top revised. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes on Google Play.
